Enlist & Promo
Listed below are promotional and enlistment ideas that can be divided between the youth pastor and the Campus Prayer Journey coordinator. Pray! Plan! Promote! Pray!
Step One
Help spread the word by encouraging other churches in your community to participate in Campus Prayer Journey. Consider contacting five other youth ministers and prayer coordinators in the area, the association, or ministerial alliance. Work together to conduct a community-wide Campus Prayer Journey event. Your church can lead in praying a hedge of protection around the schools in your area.
Step Two
By September 1 enlist participation of: church staff members, deacons/elders, Sunday School teachers, Sunday School classes, parents, other ministry groups, and committees. On or before September 1 send a letter to every parent in your church (see sample parent’s letter) inviting them to join you in praying for their children’s school.
Step Three
On or before September 1 send a letter to the principal of every campus where your church plans to pray (see sample school administrator’s letter).
Step Four
Promote the Campus Prayer Journey Experience through your church bulletin and other newsletters or communication pieces through your church.
Step Five
Send a press release to local newspapers, television, and radio stations. Most media outlets will need the press release three to four weeks before the Campus Prayer Journey (see Press Release).
Step Six
Print off prayer guides for each adult or order them from the national Campus Prayer Journey office at 1 770 410 6000, ext. 6324. Ask each on-campus coordinator to report the attendance of his or her campus back to you. Please consider calling the above number or log onto www.studentz.com/prayer and share your experience with us
Step Seven
Develop a follow-up plan. The need to pray for our students is bigger than this one-day event. Download these the Prayer Journey follow-up ideas for other ideas to expand your prayer ministry. Reclaim the church as a house of prayer with a passion for lost people (see Matt. 21:13; Luke 19:10). Link believers in prayer for evangelism and awakening (see 2 Chron. 7:14; Matt. 28:17-20).
